Future Fertility Trust poster wins FIRST PRIZE at the Annual Conference for the British Association of Paediatric Surgeons
In July 2016, Molly Gilmartin was awarded first prize in the poster walk competition that took place at the annual conference for the British Association of Paediatric Surgeons. Molly is a board member of the Tissue Cryopreservation Team and is a fifth year medical student at Oxford University. She will be leading our 2017 fundraising campaign for the Future Fertility Trust: #smash500.
The poster was looking at a service evaluation that Molly carried out of ovarian cryopreservation patients prior to January 2016. The service evaluation looked at patient/parent experience of the information provided, consent process, surgical procedure and post-operative care along with the continued support from the ovarian cryopreservation team. The service evaluation was via a telephone questionnaire and great thanks must be extended to all past patients or parents of patients who gave up their time to complete the questionnaire helping us to collect some very useful data.
As the service continues to expand, this poster looked at the potential to develop third party agreements with hospitals across the UK and the benefits along with the challenges that occur with expansion via a third party model.
The Future Fertility Trust were extremely pleased with the level of patient and parent satisfaction demonstrated by the service evaluation of the information provision and consenting process and are delighted to have since developed a website with electronic resources which was one of the main points of development fed back via the questionnaire. We have also worked to re-evaluate our information leaflets and updated copies are now available on our website too. Click here to be directed to our updated information leaflets.
